Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated cricket prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, for his historic achivement of scoring second fastest century during IPL T-20 cricket tournament recently.
Modi, while addressing the inaugural function of Khelo India Youth Games 2025 being hosted by Bihar through videoconferencing, said that Suryavanshi had created history recently while playing in IPL T-20 cricket tournament.
Suryavanshi, son of Bihar, had created record in cricket at very young age, which was not only result of his hard work and talents but also facilities being provided by the government, he noted.
"Talents of Suryavanshi were processed and polished at various levels so that he could perform well," the PM said, adding that more than 1,000 Khelo India centres had been opened across the country, so that budding sporting talents could be promoted.
His government was making all efforts to promote sports of all disciplines in the country, he stated.
Suryavanshi, at the age of only 14 years, had scored century in just 35 balls on April 28 while playing for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans at Savai Mansingh Stadium in IPL T-20 cricket tournament. He had achieved the feat of youngest ever player to score century by smashing 11 sixes and seven boundaries.
