The ongoing repair work on the old Netravati bridge at Jeppinamogaru, along National Highway 66, has led to daily traffic disruptions. With two-way traffic being temporarily diverted to the new bridge, vehicle congestion has become a routine issue.
During peak hours in the morning and evening, vehicles are seen lined up from Pumpwell and Kallapu all the way to the Thokkottu flyover, causing significant delays. Emergency vehicles are also facing difficulty navigating through the traffic.
As a temporary measure, light vehicles heading to and from areas like Deralakatte and Konaje are being rerouted via the Harekala-Pavoor bridge. However, this alternate route is also witnessing heavy traffic during peak hours.
Commuters coming from Thokkottu, Talapady, and Kerala towards Mangaluru are now forced to start their journeys at least an hour earlier than usual. Frustrated by the delays, the public and regular commuters are urging authorities to expedite the repair work to ensure smoother traffic flow.
