Another earthquake of magnitude 4.1 struck Afghanistan on Thursday, according to the National Centre of Seismology.
The earthquake occurred at 11:58 PM (IST) and 118 km East of Kabul, the NCS said in a post on X.
Earlier, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit southeastern Afghanistan on Thursday at a depth of 10 km (6 miles), according to German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), Reuters reported.
The latest tremor comes just days after a series of powerful quakes killed more than 2,200 people, injured over 3,600, and destroyed entire villages in the country’s east, leaving tens of thousands homeless.
Sunday’s 6.0-magnitude quake, one of the deadliest in recent years, struck at a shallow depth in the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, unleashing widespread devastation.
Aid groups warn that survivors face acute shortages of food, shelter, and medical supplies, with the United Nations calling the situation critical as relief efforts struggle to keep pace with the scale of the disaster.
