PATNA: INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate in Bihar was picked only after "RJD put a katta (country-made gun) to Congress's kanpatti (temple)", PM Narendra Modi said Sunday, predicting the allies would "break each other's heads" once the second phase of polling ended on Nov 11.
At rallies in Ara and Nawada, Modi spoke repeatedly of a fraught partnership between two "dynastic parties tussling for control" that culminated in RJD having its way and forcing Congress to declare Tejashwi Yadav as the alliance's CM face.
"These parties serve just two families; one is India's most corrupt and the other is Bihar's most corrupt. They are also schooled in jungle raj. Such elements can never do good for Bihar," he said.
Referring to the Kutumba seat, Modi asked the Ara gathering if they knew why RJD fielded a candidate there against sitting MLA and state Congress chief Rajesh Kumar before withdrawing him. "The crown prince of jungle raj fears that the Voter Adhikar Yatra of the other yuvraj may dent his prospects. Hence, RJD has put up its candidate against Congress's state president," the PM said without naming either directly.
He also took a dig at what he said was "the sham of two allies locked in 'friendly' contests in several constituencies despite their seat-sharing pact".
Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi have shared the stage just twice since the campaign began - in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga on Oct 29. Since then, they have campaigned separately, with Rahul covering Begusarai and Khagaria, whilst Tejashwi has attended at least 15 solo rallies across the state.
While RJD functionaries argue that NDA stalwarts haven't been campaigning together either, PM Modi declared he had "inside information" about how INDIA bloc was close to imploding.
He said NDA was headed for a "record victory", contrasting its "honest and visionary manifesto" with INDIA bloc's alleged "dossier of lies". He said NDA envisions Bihar's youth working in their native state rather than migrating for economic survival.
"The jungle raj wallahs are set to get the worst drubbing in history...Analysts sitting in Delhi and racking their brains over poll arithmetic would do well to come here and experience for themselves which way the wind is blowing," he said.
The PM said the Nitish Kumar govt had improved power connectivity in a state where "people used to dry clothes on electrical wires" and disbursed Rs 1 lakh crore to ex-service personnel's families through the One Rank One Pension scheme.
Recalling the abduction of a doctor from Tarari near Ara two decades ago and Maoist violence in Rohtas district's Dalmia Nagar, Modi said NDA had restored peace and stability. In Nawada, he warned against "urban Naxals sympathetic to extremist ideologies".
Targeting Congress again, Modi invoked the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. "Those who were guilty are being promoted by the party. Congress has been unapologetic about the carnage."
Recently, during Operation Sindoor, "dhamake Pakistan mein ho rahe the aur Congress ke shahi parivar ki neend ud jaati thi (there was sound and fury in Pakistan and Congress's royal family was losing their sleep here)", Modi said.
He also targeted the opposition's Voter Adhikar Yatra, alleging it was a subterfuge aimed at "protecting infiltrators" who must be driven out for seizing resources meant for natives of Bihar.
The PM held a roadshow in Patna in the evening, with crowds lining up along the streets and showering his convoy with petals.
