Chatra: A four-year-old boy drowned in Dhanseer pond located at Dadha village of Sadar block in Chatra district on Sunday, police said.
Sadar police said the deceased, Harshit Tirkey, was a resident of Sindurve village under the Giddhaur police station limits.
He had come to his maternal grandmother's house at Dadha to attend a wedding ceremony. He went to the pond on Sunday around 5pm, when he fell into deep water.
Locals rescued him and took him to the Chatra sadar hospital, but was declared dead by doctors. The body was handed over to the family members of the deceased after post-mortem examination on Monday."
