Madikeri: Members of the Somwarpet taluk agitation committee have called for immediate administrative changes at the Govt Community Hospital in Somwarpet, threatening large-scale protests if their demands are not met.
Speaking to reporters in Somwarpet, the committee president Arun Kothnalli said that poor coordination among officials managing the hospital, has resulted in inadequate patient care. The govt is providing all kinds of facilities and grants to the hospital on time. Yet, the funds are not being utilised properly due to quarrels and misunderstandings between the officials, he stated.
They highlighted various operational issues, including non-functional scanning machines and a broken X-ray printer that remained unrepaired for a year despite having trained personnel. The committee expressed disappointment that despite being from Somwarpet taluk, the health minister has not addressed these issues.
"The hospital itself is in the ICU due to the lack of specialist doctors and the staff's mental harassment," the members alleged.
