Mandya: The Cauvery Neeravari Nigama, which manages the iconic Brindavan Gardens and the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam in Mandya, has withdrawn its recently revised entry and service fee structure following widespread public protests, including opposition from farmers.
The hike, which was announced on May 1, 2025, was rolled back on Wednesday. Officials justified the increase by citing rising maintenance costs and a decline in visitor numbers in the aftermath of Covid-19. This was the first revision in six years. Under the revised rates, entry fees for adults doubled from Rs 50 to Rs 100, while the fee for children increased from Rs 20 to Rs 50.
Speaking to the TOI, Faruque Ahmed Abbu, assistant executive engineer at Cauvery Neeravari Nigam, said, "Due to protest from people, we have rolled back the hike. Till we get direction from our higher authorities, old rates will continue."
KRS entry fees (old rates to continue):
Adults: Rs 50
Children: Rs 20
Camera: Rs 50
Two-wheeler: Rs 10
Four wheeler: Rs 50
Bus: Rs 100
