Pune: A 37-year-old man from Phursungi registered a complaint with the Phursungi police on Tuesday, stating that cyber crooks duped him of Rs 2.94 lakh in an online task fraud between Dec 19 and 21, 2023.
The victim initially filed a complaint with the cybercrime police, and after verification, an FIR relating to cheating was registered.
A police official said the crooks offered a part-time job to the victim and asked him to write reviews on hotels and paid him small amounts. The crook later lured the victim to invest Rs 2.94 lakh in an online task for better return.
The official said the victim realised he was tricked after he failed to receive the promised interest on the invested amount.
