Lucknow: Defence companies from Greece and Armenia have expressed interest in investing in Uttar Pradesh's upcoming defence corridor.
Representatives of the govts of both the countries met chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on the sidelines of a defence exhibition currently underway in Athens, Greece and discussed potential collaboration with Indian companies.
The CS led a delegation to Athens for the three-day exhibition, where he met various other industry heads to discuss investments for the UP defence corridor. On Tuesday, the CS, along with India's Ambassador to Greece, Rudrendra Tandon, inaugurated the India Pavilion at the exhibition and then interacted with Greece's Chief of Defence General Dimitrios Choupis.
A govt spokesperson said that the exhibition, which will conclude on May 8, has seen participation from 35 countries. Numerous events and stalls showcasing cutting-edge defence technology have been set up.
"The UP defence industrial corridor delegation's presence at the exhibition underscores the state's commitment to exploring new avenues for defence industrial development and fostering international collaborations. This initiative is expected to pave the way for new investments, technological advancements and strategic partnerships in the defence sector, further solidifying UP's position as a key player in India's defence industrial landscape," the official said.
