Manchester United could solve their striker crisis without spending a penny on transfer fees. The Red Devils are keen to sign a No. 9 this summer, with Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike both among the options they have considered.
Ruben Amorim is hoping to bring in a fresh face to spearhead his attack and replace Rasmus Hojlund, who is being eyed by Inter Milan despite his desire to stay at Old Trafford to attempt to justify his £72million price tag.
It has emerged that United have been offered three opportunities to solve their striker woes already in recent weeks via free agents. English trio Callum Wilson, Jamie Vardy and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have all been offered to the club, but they are viewed as options that would be considered towards the end of the window.
However, there is a fresh opportunity for the Red Devils to sign a free agent who would be viewed as a more exciting addition. According to Di Marzio, Juventus are set to hold talks with Dusan Vlahovic this week and may even propose terminating his contract.
The Old Lady are hoping to move the Serbia international off of their books and save funds on his wages of over £300,000 a week, though it is unclear whether the player will agree to the proposal at this stage. Nevertheless, Vlahovic is keen on a Premier League move this summer, which will be music to the ears of United.
The Sun report that several sides have already scheduled talks with the ex-Fiorentina star's entourage, and suitors will be hoping that Vlahovic will soon be available as a free agent or for a cut-price fee.
United are among those said to be set to hold talks, as well as Arsenal, who are long-term admirers of Vlahovic and attempted to secure his signature prior to his Juve move. Chelsea have been linked with the 25-year-old previously as well, but they have recently signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
With Amorim firmly pushing for a striker, it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached with Vlahovic or whether his steep wages become a sticking point in any negotiations. If not, United have the likes of Vardy and Calvert-Lewin to fall back on.
