Why isn't the world applauding Israel for enabling the establishment of independent aid centres in Gaza? This, after all, is exactly what critics of the country demanded: direct humanitarian relief for civilians trapped in the warzone. And yet, when Israel does just that - at great cost and risk - it is reviled and condemned. Israel is fulfilling a demand no other nation under sustained attack would be expected to. In this case, facilitating aid to territory controlled by a terrorist group that brutally massacred and kidnapped its citizens on October 7 and which is dedicated to Israel's destruction.
What's more, there is no legal obligation to provide aid in such circumstances. Under the terms of international law, a state can refuse or regulate the passage of humanitarian aid if it poses a military risk - such as being diverted to enemy fighters. Which could explain why Britain didn't send truckloads of aid into Nazi-held Germany as it dropped bombs on Dresden. Or the reason the US chose not to airlift food to Afghanistan as it tracked down al-Qaeda strongholds following the horrors of 9/11.
Yet even though there is concrete proof that Hamas has consistently snatched aid from its own people of Gaza the Israel-haters don't want to know.
So fixated are they on loathing everything Israel does, they ignore footage of masked, clearly well-fed Hamas fighters toting rifles skyward, (take a look at how beefy the captors were during scant releases of hostages) or they miss the testimonies of ordinary Gazans angrily denouncing Hamas for hoarding supplies.
One man, bravely speaking out while accepting an Israeli aid box, shouted into the camera: "F*** your sister, Hamas. F*** your mother, Sinwar."
Even images of Palestinians raiding Hamas warehouses packed with months' worth of hidden food go unnoticed by those determined to demonise the Jewish state.
Perhaps a place for them to start catch-up viewing is an interview with released hostage Omer Shem Tov who, for the majority of his 505 days in captivity, survived on one biscuit and salty water a day.
He said of his captors "I remember walking by another room in the tunnel, seeing a big amount of food...huge amounts. So I was being starved. There's no question about it."
Yet Israel`s critics, so gripped by hatred of the Jewish state and the culture of double standards, look away. After all, the truth is so inconveniently antithetical to their vitriolic stance.
To be clear, Israel endorsed and helped establish the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) as a mechanism to deliver aid directly to civilians while bypassing Hamas.
But the country is vilified even as its hostages starve underground and Hamas kills Palestinians trying to reach undistributed food stored in UN-branded warehouses.
It is risible how Israel's rancorous critics search for ever more ways to traduce the country - even as the aid trucks roll into Gaza. "The model of aid distribution proposed by Israel does not align with core humanitarian principles," declared UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini. This, by the way, is the same UNRWA whose staff and infrastructure have been repeatedly linked to Hamas.
Meanwhile - and oh, the irony - every syllable of condemnation from these peace-loving humanitarians gives oxygen to the antisemitism spiralling around the world.
Emboldening extremists who take their vile cause to the streets of cities millions of miles away from Gaza. As we saw recently with the horrific killing of a young couple outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington DC.
Clearly this new way to provide aid has been beset by challenges. But how can it not be? These are extraordinary circumstances. Though surely the focus should be on what has been achieved. Each aid package distributed by GHF is designed to sustain a family of five for one week. On Wednesday, 14,616 packages were distributed - enough to feed approximately 73,080 people.
The fact that GHF can do what UNRWA failed to achieve seems to be another reason for the UN's refusal to support the new system.
If Israel continues to be criticised for doing the right thing then the West has truly lost its moral compass.
Remember the conflict could end now if Hamas surrendered, released hostages and even accepted Israel's promise to leave Gaza unharmed. But the terrorists don`t care about the ordinary Palestinians.
Every one they deprive of food is adequate sacrifice to keep the flame of hatred burning bright and to ensure the Jewish State is reviled
Meanwhile, those who loathe Israel continue to proclaim their `horror` at the new aid programme. Repeating the propaganda, repeating the hatred and giving sustenance to Hamas while innocents are caught in this terrible war.
