Hundreds of people have been evacuated after a wildfire began spreading through a popular tourist area of France. Firefighters are working to tackle the blaze in Argelès-sur-Mer, located in the Pyrénées-Orientales along the mediterranean Coast. A water-bomber helicopter has been deployed over the area, along with 90 firefighters on the ground, according to the Forest Fire Prevention and Reporting Association.
The association added that the 350 occupants of the village have been evacuated. This comes amid a wildfire in Marseille that forced 400 people to be evacuated. Roughly a dozen homes were destroyed and 63 others damaged, Interior minister Bruno Retailleau said. About 100 people also suffered light injuries.
