In a dramatic case of betrayal and deception, two sisters-in-law from Gwalior's Dabra area have reportedly eloped with their lovers, leaving behind their families — and taking cash and jewellery with them. The incident came to light after one of their children, an 11-year-old boy, revealed the secret to his father.
Incident from Kheri Mohalla, Ward No. 4, Dabra
According to Santosh, one of the husbands, both he and his brother Bhupendra work as daily wage laborers and were unaware of their wives’ alleged affairs. The women reportedly disappeared on June 28, 2025. It was only after repeated questioning that Santosh's young son admitted, "Papa, mummy and aunt used to call two men home when you and uncle went to work. When I saw them, they threatened to kill me."
Accusations Against Two Youths
Santosh alleges that the women were lured by two men from the same area — Chhotu Kushwaha and Ansh Kushwaha from Pichor. He claims the women had been in contact with them for some time and finally fled with them, also taking Rs 2–3 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery.
One Woman Took Her Child Along
While Santosh's wife left their son behind, Bhupendra’s wife allegedly took her child with her when she ran away. The brothers filed a formal complaint at the Dabra City Police Station on July 9.
Police Begin Investigation
Station in-charge Yashwant Goyal confirmed that a case has been registered and efforts are underway to trace both women. He added that police are also investigating the full circumstances behind their disappearance.
The incident has stirred the local community, raising concerns over trust, family breakdowns, and the safety of children left behind in such cases.
