A man jailed for the “senseless, violent” murderof a 15-year-old and a man who were taking part in filming a music video in north London launched a foul-mouthed tirade at the judge as his sentence was read out.
Lorik Lupqi, 21, wasjailed for life, along with four other men, Jason Furtado, 28, Abel Chunda, 29, Xavier Poponne, 22, and Eden Clark, 31, at the Old Bailey today.
Judge Anjua Dhir KC told Lupqi he would spend at least 39 years in prisonfor the “planned, brutal, murderous group attack”. As Lupqi was being sent down in handcuffs, he swore and told Judge Dhir: “Suck your mum…When I come out I’m going to kill you.”
The judge had previously blasted Lupqi along with Furtado, Chunda and Clark for their “appalling behaviour” in court, which saw the trial halted midway through after Lupqi attacked Chunda, of Highgate Hill, spraying the dock with blood.
The area had to be deep cleaned before the court could reassemble. Passing sentence, Judge Dhir told the defendants: “With the exception of Xavier Poponne, your behaviour during this trial has been appalling with constant outbursts in court, fights in the dock, disruptive behaviour in the cells in this building and difficult behaviour coming to and leaving this court.”

She said Lupqi had been “by far the worst”, adding they had shown “a complete lack of respect for the court process and the families of your victims”.
The court previously heard how a large group had gathered on the Elthorne Estate in Archway to record a music video for an artist called Tight Road Baby. Prosecutor Jacob Hallam KC described how after the crowd had mostly dispersed Lupqi and Furtado enlisted Chunda, Clark and Poponne to help attack the remaining youths in the area.
Chunda, Poponne and Clark arrived by taxi, joining Lupqi and Furtado in launching a murderous machete assault on 15-year-old Leonardo Reid, 23-year-old Klevi Shekaj and Abdullah Abdullahi, who was left grievously wounded.
The five men were found guilty after a jury spent 53 hours and five minutes deliberating at the Old Bailey in July. At a sentencing hearing today all five were jailed for life. Lupqi was jailed for a minimum of 39 years in prison. Furtado and Poponne received minimum terms of 37 years and Chunda and and Clark were given minimum terms of 38 years for murder and were each given 25 years for the attempted murder charge.

Mr Shekaj’s mother, Valbona Shekaj, said in her statement: “Instead of showing remorse or asking for forgiveness, they smirked at us from the defendant’s box. They played with our pain, and treated this entire trial as a game, as if the life they took and the devastation they caused meant nothing."
Detective Inspector Jim Barry, from Scotland Yard, said “These violent men went into this estate with the intention of killing anyone they could, under the false impression that those there were rival gang members. This was a senseless, violent act which has shattered the lives of so many, especially Leonardo and Klevi’s loved ones."
