Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley says 'he's coming to a stop' as he hints at retiring

Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley dropped a bombshell about his looming departure from television whilst broadcasting live on ITV.

During an episode of Good Morning Britain that originally aired last year, Richard and co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins chatted with Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock, who has won six Olympic medals throughout his career.

While discussing Max's choice to retire at 31 and motivate upcoming athletes, Richard wondered what it felt like to reach a "hard stop".

This prompted Richard to contemplate his own career, admitting that he is "slowly coming to a stop," presenting GMB multiple days per week as he appears to prepare for retirement.

At the time, social media users caught onto the remark, with one viewer questioning: "Did Richard say he's retiring in that #Olympics segment? Wonder how long he'll stay on #GMB for then," reports the Express.

However, Richard Madeley seems to have no plans of slowing down just yet. He recently returned to hosting duties after taking a show break.

Fans seemed to be thrilled about his return as they took to social media to share their thoughts.

One fan tweeted, "Madeley's back," and another added, "Madeley back on presenting."

A third said, "Oh Joy. Madeley," and a fourth viewer similarly shared, "Richard Madeley back on @gmb."

In July, Richard revealed that he'd be going on holiday, just days after lead host Susanna Reid announced her summer break from the show.

Since then, various hosts have stepped in to host the show, including Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir Singh, and Adil Ray.

Today, Bank Holiday Monday, Richard was joined by Kate Garraway, where they delivered the latest headlines. However, it didn't take long before things took an unexpected turn.

Richard walked off set before the ad breakbecause he needed to use the toilet after talking about it.

"Talking about it, now I need to go on a break," he told Kate as he rose from his seat and walked off.

Kate was then forced to present a section of the show alone as she pointed out: “Richard is off the loo now.”
