Geri Horner's scandal-hit husband Christian speaks out on Spice Girl star's birthday

Christian Horner has issued a loving birthday message to his wife Geri on her birthday. The fiery redhead who found fame as one-fifth of the chart-mauling girl group, the Spice Girls, is today celebrating her 53rd birthday.

In recent months, Geri and Christian have been surrounded by controversy. Christian was fired from his role at Formula One with Red Bull after a scandal over text messages he allegedly sent to a female employee. But Geri herself has also been clouded by controversy after allegedly racking up huge debts.

However, the Horners appear to have put the drama behind them as they took time out to celebrate Geri's special day. Taking to Instagram, Christian shared a sweet snap of his wife enjoying a relaxing morning before her celebrations. It comes after Mel B's 'spiritual' Moroccan wedding with non traditional dress.

Looking radiant, Geri was seen wearing a signature all-white outfit as they sat on the patio of their sprawling home, ditching makeup for the classic snap. Geri's natural beauty shone through. While Geri found fame with her fluorescent red hair, the singer's hair looked much more low-key look, with her hair looking a lot more subtle.

"Happy birthday to my amazing wife @gerihalliwellhorner," Christian said, alongside a heart-eyes emoji. Geri posed while holding a large cake, with chocolate ganache flowing down the sides, before tucking into the tasty treat. Elsewhere, Geri's bandmates have taken to social media to celebrate her big day.

Emma Bunton, known as Baby Spice, shared a throwback of the pair from the music video for the Spice Girls track, Say You'll Be There, alongside the caption: "Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend @gerihalliwellhorner! Love you to bits. Have the most gorgeous day."

Sporty Spice star Melanie C also shared a collection of snaps with Geri taken over the years. She captioned her post: "Happy Birthday darling @gerihalliwellhorner, our Ginger Spice. Have an amazing day, love you to pieces." And while there had been rumours of a rift between Geri and Melanie Brown MBE, Scary Spice was happy to silence the speculation.

Sharing a picture of herself in the Spice Girls heyday, with Geri flashing a huge smile and the peace sign, Melanie wrote: "Happy birthday ginge! @gerihalliwellhorner." Victoria Beckham, who was known as Posh Spice has made it no secret that she has distanced herself from the Spice Girls, having not taken part in their 2019 stadium tour.

But she has maintained a close friendship with all of her bandmates. Sharing a snap alongside Geri and Emma, Victoria gushed: "Happy birthday @gerihalliwellhorner!! Kisses @emmaleebunton xx." But while Geri may be celebrating, the singer turned author has faced hardship after one of her businesses had a deficit of £750,000 in the year ending August 2024, a stark contrast to £276,000 the year before.

Falcon Queen Productions had assets of £72,000, but with creditors of more than £1.1m, is now running at a loss of just over £1m. Geri set up the firm in 2021 and, two years later, launched her debut novel, Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen. In April this year she released a second title, Rose Frost: Ice On Fire.

She has no immediate financial worries as her main company, Won-derful Productions, earned £2.16m in the 12 months to August last year. And she and Christian are worth a combined £70m. Former F1 boss Christian, 51, was dismissed 17 months after he was accused of sexual harassment and coercive, controlling behaviour by a female employee at Red Bull. He was later cleared of the allegations, which he always denied.

Vowing to only wear white now, it's a marked difference from her colourful pop persona. "I went through a period when I was in my 20s wearing black all the time," Geri mused. "But I've gone through different theories. I looked at a lot of guys, and they always wear the same thing. Whether it's Steve Jobs, the Facebook guy, you know, they all wear the same thing, like a uniform. I thought, well, actually, how much time do you use getting ready? That was one thing, and everything matches. It keeps things simple," she commented on Jessie and Lennie Ware's Table Manners podcast.
