The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, ending the long wait for Navi Mumbaikars and aviation enthusiasts. Airlines including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India have announced plans to operate 14–20 daily flights connecting NMIA to around 15 cities.
First flights expected in December
The airport is expected to start operations 45–60 days post-inauguration, likely in December, once security mobilization is complete. Flyers from across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region can access NMIA via multiple land routes, with metro and water taxi services to follow.
