Mumbai: A 27-year-old man was arrested in Mumbai’s Mankhurd area for allegedly molesting a 7-year-old girl. The Mankhurd Police registered a case against the accused under Sections 74 and 76 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act before arresting him.
According to the police, both the accused and the victim reside in the same locality and are neighbors. The accused allegedly lured the girl into his house and engaged in obscene acts with her.
The incident came to light after the victim’s sister reported the matter to the police. Following the complaint, an FIR was filed under the BNS and POCSO Act. The police subsequently arrested the accused from his residence and produced him before a court, which remanded him to police custody.
