The final test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England began at The Oval on Thursday. The rain proved to be the biggest hurdle on the opening day, allowing the host to bowl only 64 overs after England stand-in captain Ollie Pope won the toss and chose to bowl first on a damp, seamer-friendly surface. After stop-start action on Day 1 all eyes will be on the weather for the second day.

IND vs ENG, 5th Test Day 2 Weather Forecast: Will rain play spoilsport in London?
According to the UK Met Office, there will be a 60-70% chance of rain during the match. A little bit of rain could delay the start of the match, but it will only increase in the latter half of the day

England will be pleased with their effort on Day 1 of the match, having stopped India at 204/6. However, their major concern would be an injury to Chris Woakes. The pacer injured his shoulder and was seen walking away with his shoulder covered with a sweater.

India did make four changes to their playing XI for the final Test: Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Anshul Kamboj and Shardul Thakur missing out while Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep and Karun Nair making it to the XI.

Sai Sudharsan played a composed knock of 38, striking six crisp boundaries before falling just as he looked set. Karun Nair, making a return to the Test side, stood out with a gritty unbeaten 52, laced with seven well-timed boundaries. Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue led the charge, picking up two wickets apiece, while Woakes dismissed KL Rahul before getting injured. Shubman Gill's innings was cut short by unfortunate runout
