New Delhi: Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan slammed the Centre over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, accusing the government of snatching the voting rights of 60-70 lakh people in the state, where the assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year.

If the government claims that a person is not a voter, then the opposition is demanding proof...We are demanding proof of the verification of 2-3 crore people...The survey has already been done in Bihar. You (government) are clearly snatching the rights of around 60-70 lakh voters in Bihar..."

She further questioned the decision to begin the SIR process just months ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, alleging political bias.

"Why did the Election Commission start the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise three months before the Bihar Assembly elections... The Election Commission of India is fooling the public..." she told ANI.
