Bollywood has a brand-new storyteller stepping into the spotlight — and this time it’s Aryan Khan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The 26-year-old has made his directorial debut with a Netflix series titled The Bads of Bollywood. The project was unveiled at a grand launch in Mumbai on August 20, where Aryan, visibly nervous yet witty, addressed an audience for the very first time. What followed was a heartfelt introduction to his world behind the camera.

Taking the stage, Aryan Khan admitted his nerves but charmed the crowd with his honesty. He shared that he had prepared thoroughly, even keeping his speech written down on a piece of paper as backup, and joked that if things still went wrong, his father, Shah Rukh Khan was there to step in. Aryan also expressed gratitude to his crew, lightheartedly recalling the countless retakes the show required, while emphasising that his only goal was to create entertainment for the audience.

About The Ba***ds of Bollywood

The Ba***ds of Bollywood (also written as The Bads of Bollywood), takes a daring dive into the Hindi film industry — the stars, the myths, the making of legends, and the whispers that never quite fade. At its core, it’s a high-stakes dramedy following Aasmaan Singh (played by Lakshya Lalwani), an ambitious outsider trying to carve a place for himself in Bollywood’s chaotic yet glittering world. Alongside Lakshya, Raghav Juyal plays a pivotal role, while Bobby Deol, Manish Chaudhary, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Gautami Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Rajat Bedi add depth to the drama.

  • Who all are set to make cameo appearances?
  • The show doesn’t shy away from star power either. Cameos are a highlight, with Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Karan Johar all making appearances. Shah Rukh Khan himself will also feature, giving fans a delightful father-son overlap. Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan are also part of the ensemble, and buzz suggests that even Ranbir Kapoor may appear in the series.

Adding to the anticipation is the music. Composer Anirudh Ravichander has worked on the soundtrack, ensuring the show’s high-energy storytelling is paired with equally vibrant tunes.

When will The Bads of Bollywood release
The release date was locked at the launch event, with Shah Rukh Khan proudly introducing the quirky lineup of characters from his son’s ambitious debut. The Bads of Bollywood will premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2025, and if the preview is anything to go by, Aryan Khan’s first outing as a writer-director promises both chaos and charm in equal measure.

    Internet's reaction
Fans quickly took to social media after spotting a sequence in the trailer where Lakshya’s character, Aasmaan Singh, is shown behind bars. The scene drew attention because a police officer is seen telling him that people often become even more famous after going to jail. What added to the buzz was that Aryan Khan is credited as the writer and director immediately after this sequence, making the moment stand out for many viewers.

Reactions poured in praising Aryan’s directorial touch, with some highlighting the way he framed Salman Khan’s cameo and others pointing out the clever placement of the jail dialogue.

Many described the scene as both bold and witty, calling it a strong creative choice for a debut.

Several users also noted that the project has been in post-production for a long time, with actors appearing in their 2023 looks, suggesting the scale and budget invested in the show.

Excitement around the series was clear, with fans saying Aryan had “cooked well” with his first project and expressing their eagerness for The Bads of Bollywood to arrive on Netflix on September 18.
