Abhijit Kishore, current chief operating officer, will take over as CEO of cash-strapped Vodafone Idea starting August 19. As he steps into the role, the telco is at a critical juncture, facing pressing financial challenges that threaten the company's ability to operate as a going concern. Outgoing CEO Akshaya Moondra led several financial stabilisation initiatives and launched Vi's 5G rollouts, but the company's quarterly losses continued growing year-on-year, even as it lost subscribers to rivals.
